The Democratic-NPL candidate for North Dakota tax commissioner responded Wednesday afternoon to incumbent Republican Cory Fong’s proposed legislation regarding the marriage penalty corrections in the Bush tax cuts – which will expire if Congress doesn’t take action before the end of the year. Here’s the statement Cynthia Kaldor released about the proposal:

“Cory Fong is preparing for something that will most likely not happen. The Democrats in Congress are not against extending the marriage penalty correction, so it would not affect North Dakota taxes. What Fong should be talking about is property tax reform, property valuations, oil impact area needs; issues that need more immediate attention.”
